63 starters from 10 European countries found their way to the IFCA Slalom Youth & Master European Championships 2009 at Schönberger Strand which started today. The first event day was already full of action. Both fleets, youth (under 20) with 38 starters and master (over 35) with 25 starters completed one full slalom elimination. The current Slalom World Champion Bernd Flessner (GER-16, F2, Neil Pryde) dominated the masters fleet whereas William Alihiagalelei (FRA-540, AHD, Loft Sails) from France won in the youth category.

Today the IFCA Slalom Youth & Master European Championship in Germany/Schönberger Strand begins. The surfers will start in the categories Youth (under 20) and Master (over 35). Until Sunday the 63 registered surfers will compete for the title „IFCA Slalom European Champion" in the several categories.

Attention to all competitors! Please find following some information about accommodation and travelling.

There will be a camp area for all participants who travel in vans or mobile homes and who want to stay in their vehicles. The camp ground will be close to the competition area. The costs for the camp ground are as follows: Campervan/Caravan: 8,- € per night, Tent: 5,- € per night. There will be toilets and showers available in the camp area. The adress is "Campingplatz Grasbleek", Zur Felsenburg 3, 24217 Schönberger Strand. The reception of the camp ground has alist with the names of all competitors. Please tell the receptionist that you belong to the European Championships at check-in.

Travelling information:
From Hamburg (south and west): follow the A7/A215 to Kiel. In Kiel follow the B76 towards Lübeck and the B502 towards Schoenberg. Turn right into Schönkirchen (B50) and follow the road towards Probsteierhagen-Schönberg. Follow the road until you reach a roundabout. Turn right towards Lütjenburg. Leave the next roundabout left to Schönberger Strand. The event will then be signposted.

From Lübeck/Travemünde (east): To reach Luebeck from the east take the A20. In Luebeck take the A1 towards Fehmarn/Puttgarden. In Oldenburg follow the B202/76 to Kiel/Lütjenburg. In Lütjenburg take the L165 to "Schoenberger Strand". The event will then be signposted.

From Rostock (east): From Rostock take the A20 towards Lübeck. From there follow the directions as indicated above (From Lübeck).

From Fehmarn/Puttgarden (north): From Puttgarden take the A1 towards Lübeck. In Oldenburg follow the B202/76 to Kiel/Lütjenburg. In Lütjenburg take the L165 to "Schoenberger Strand". The event will then be signposted.

From Flensburg/Denmark (north): To reach Flensburg from Denmark take the E45 towards Flensburg. In Flensburg take the A7(E45) to Hamburg(Kiel). In Rendsburg take the A210 to Kiel. Shortly before reaching Kiel take the A215 towards the centre of Kiel. In Kiel follow the B76 towards Lübeck and the B502 towards Schoenberg. Take the exit towards the centre of Schoenberg at the first roundabout. Leave the second roundabout left towards "Schoenberger Strand". The event will then be signposted.

This years „IFCA Slalom Youth & Master European Championship" will be held during the „Windsurf Festival Schönberger Strand" near Kiel in Germany from August 11th to 16th 2009. More than 80 competitors from all over Europe are expected to take part in the categories Youth (U-20) and Master. Supplemental to the competition a great accompanying programme in terms of a Surf-Expo as well as a Testival, sundry fun-sport-activities and parties are offered directly at the beach.

From August 11th to 16th 2009 the eyes of the European windsurf scene will look towards the north of Germany where the IFCA Slalom Youth & Master European Championship 2009 will take place at Schoenberger Strand / Kiel. More than 120 competitors from all over Europe are expected to take part in the categories Youth (U-20) and Master. The event will be one of the biggest windsurf events of the year in Germany.
