Perfect conditions welcomed the competitors of the IFCA Slalom Youth & Master European Championships 2009 on the second event day at Schönberger Strand/Kiel in Germany. With 20 to 25 knots of wind, the participants completed three full slalom eliminations in the master category and two full slalom eliminations in the youth category. The current Slalom World Champion Bernd Flessner (GER-16, F2, Neil Pryde) from Germany sustained his leading in the masters fleet. In the youth fleet the French sailor William Alikiagalelei (FRA-540, AHD, Loft Sails) could keep his lead as well.

In the masters fleet the German competitors occupy the first five places of the ranking after the second event day. Bernd Flessner (GER-16, F2, Neil Pryde) from Germany scored two first and one fourth place today and still leads the ranking. The second place went to Helge Wilkens (GER-63, Starboard, Gun Sails) from Germany who won the last elimination of the day. Thade Behrends (GER-94, Exocet) from Germany scored the third place in front of Pawel Dittrich (GER-381, Techno, Gaastra), also from Germany. Philipp Müller (GER-100, Starboard, Gaastra) completes the German Top-5. The best foreign starter was Christophe Waerzeggers (BEL-29, Carbon Art, Maui Sails) from Belgium on place six.

In the youth fleet (U-20) William Alikiagalelei (FRA-540, AHD, Loft Sails) from France could keep his lead also on the second event day. Teade de Jong (NED-777, Mistral, North) from the Netherlands scored second in front of Thomas Gaudiot (FRA-909, Starboard, Gun Sails) from France. The fourth place went to Benjamin Remy (FRA-712, JP; Neil Pryde), who pushed Sebastien Bonhomme Allaire (FRA-511, AB, Challenger Sails), both from France, to the fifth place. The best German sailor in the youth fleet was Sebastian Kördel (GER-220, Lorch, Neil Pryde). Best girl was Marion Morte (FRA-118, Starboard, Neil Pryde) from France on place 23.

The wind forecast for the third event day look promising again. There are five to six beaufort predicted which will ensure exciting races and fights for the title of the Slalom European Champion 2009 in the categories youth (U-20) und master.
